Kirk Fridrich
Head Football Coach / Associate Director of Athletics

Kirk Fridrich joined the Union Athletic Department as Associate Athletic Director and head football coach in January of 2007, returning to Union after a five-year absence. Fridrich was an assistant varsity coach for the Redskins from 1993-2001, leaving to accept the head football coaching position at Stillwater Public Schools where he remained until 2005. In 2006, Coach Fridrich became the head football coach for Owasso Public Schools, where he led the Owasso Rams to the 2006 6A State Semi-Finals. 

In his twelve years as head coach at Union, Kirk has led the Union Redskins to a record of 141-20, with ten state final appearances and five championships.

 Coach Fridrich earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Tulsa and Master of Science degree from Oklahoma State University. 

 Coach Fridrich and his wife, Tina, have been married for twenty years. They attend Asbury United Methodist Church and have two sons, Joshua (18) and John Thomas (13).

Scott Bajek
Varsity Football Coach

Coach Bajek is entering his 7th season as a football coach at Union. Before coming to Union he spent 3 years as a football staff member at the University of Texas at San Antonio as well as one season working for the University of Tulsa Football program. Coach Bajek has his B.A. in Communications (PR) and has his M.S. in Recreation, Sports and Tourism Management from the University of Illinois. Prior to completing his degrees, coach Bajek served in the United States Navy.  Originally from Chicago Illinois, he grew up in a military family that allowed him to live in multiple states and countries as a youth.

Coach Bajek has five children, four (boys) with his wife of over 20 years Angela.

Chantelle Marsh (22), Devon (21), Darren (20), Jacob (17) and Isaac (14).

Jeff Brown
Varsity Football Coach

Coach Brown has been in education and coaching for twenty years.  During that time, he has coached football, baseball, track, and junior high golf, as well as served as equipment manager for ten years.  As a varsity football coach, Coach Brown has coached defensive line and long snappers.  Coach Brown is also a varsity baseball coach for the Redskins.  Coach Brown has been happily married to Kristin for 25 years.  Together they have three sons.  Justin is 24 and is a Freshman football and baseball coach for Union High School.  Cade is 20 and a student at TCC studying to be a firefighter, and Jaxon is 14 and in the eighth grade.

Luther Carr III
Varsity Football Coach

Coach Carr was born and raised in Seattle, WA.  After graduating from Garfield High School in Seattle, Coach Carr attended Eastern Washington University on a full scholarship to play wide receiver for the Eagles.  Carr is a 1995 graduate of EWU with a B.A. in Education, and also earned a Masters of Sports Science from United States Sports Academy in 2016.

In his third year at Union, Coach Carr brings twenty-five years of football coaching experience in both high school and college, including a stint as head coach for his alma mater, Garfield HS, and at the University of Montana and the University of Idaho.  Most recently, Carr was head coach at Chief Sealth HS in Seattle.

With fifteen years of secondary teaching experience, Coach Carr will join the faculty at Union High School teaching US History, and will coach the cornerbacks for the Redskins.

Coach Carr also has two daughters: Amaria, 12 and Jasmine, 11.

Jon Davis
Varsity Football Coach

Jon is entering his 29th year of coaching and 25th year at Union coaching varsity football.  He graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1992 with a degree in Math Education and graduated from Lamar University in 2015 with a master degree in administration.  He and his wife Angie were married that summer and moved to San Bernardino, CA. where Jon served as Defensive Coordinator for three seasons.  In 1995 the opportunity to “come home” was too tempting and they began the journey back to Oklahoma to coach for Bill Blankenship at Union.  He has taught math at the high school his entire tenure at Union.  Having been at Union for so many years has provided him to be part of 272 wins.  Jon has been honored to be part of 19 District Championships and 24 playoff appearances, which includes seven State Runner Up and eight State Championships.  Jon has coached every defensive position and currently serves as Special Teams Coordinator and Equipment Coordinator.  He and his wife Angie have been married for 27 years and have two children Jordan and Alex.  Jordan will pursue a degree in Nursing from the University of Oklahoma and Alex will continue to chase his dream in hockey.

Nathan Foster
Varsity Football Coach

Coach Foster is entering his ninth year at Union and starting his 16th year teaching and 19th year coaching.  He is a graduate of Altus High School in Altus, Oklahoma.  He graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in science education.  Coach Foster also has a master’s degree in sport management from Adams State University.  He is married to Veronica Foster, who is a graduate of Union High School and the biggest fan of the football team.  Veronica can manage a coach’s family better than the coach manages a practice.  Coach Foster and Veronica have a daughter, Victoria, who is in the fifth grade at Jarman Elementary this year.  Victoria loves her football boys and everything black and red.

Kyle Fridrich
Head Strength & Conditioning Coach

Kyle Fridrich is entering his eighth year as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Union Redskins. Kyle graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Health and Physical Education. He is recognized by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and he also holds the USA Weightlifting Sport Performance Coach Certification. Kyle and his wife Heather have two children (Paisley 7 & Sawyer 3). Kyle and his family are excited for another championship season in 2019.

De Mashburn
Varsity Football Coach

Coach Mashburn is in his eighth year of teaching and ninth year of coaching.  After graduating from Muskogee High School, he earned a degree in social studies education at East Central University in Ada, OK. Mashburn coached at Muskogee for one year, then continued coaching for four years at Norman High School before coming to Union in 2016. In his fourth year at Union, Coach Mashburn will work with linebackers, while teaching US History at the Eighth Grade Center. Coach Mashburn is happily married to his wonderful wife, Leah Mashburn.

Preston Pearson
Varsity Football Coach

Coach Pearson begins his 28th year coaching Varsity Football. He is a graduate of Broken Arrow High School where he was 1st Team All-District, 1st Team All-Conference, District Offensive Player of the Year in 1983 and Team MVP in 1983.

Coach Pearson received his degree from Emporia State University in Kansas where he was also a 4-year starter at Quarterback. He helped lead Emporia to its first national playoff appearance and left ranked #2 in school history for total yards gained. Coach Pearson also has his masters in Secondary Administration from Northwestern Oklahoma State University.

Coach Pearson’s coaching stops include Putnam City High School where he served as Head Coach, Chaparral High School where he served as the Head Coach, Broken Arrow High School where he served as Offensive Coordinator and Assistant Head Coach and Union High School where he served as Offensive Coordinator and helped the Redskins win 4 state championships.

He has been married for 30 years to Lana who teaches in the Broken Arrow school district. Their children and grandchildren include Kale, Caitie, Keegan, Kaylor and Kyler.

Chance Riley
Varsity Football Coach

Chance Riley is entering his fifth year with Union. After graduating from Collinsville High School in 2007, Chance attended Pittsburg State University, where he was a member of the Pittsburg State football team and part of the 2011 National Championship team. Coach Riley has also served for two years as a graduate assistant at Pittsburg State working with the offensive line, and received a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. At Union, Chance teaches World History at the High School and coaches the offensive line. Chance has been married to his wife Savannah Riley for four years. They have a three-year-old daughter named Chapel, and welcomed a newborn son, Riggs, on May 17, 2019!

Richard Roepke
Varsity Football Coach

Coach Roepke will be entering his ninth year at Union and his ninth year of coaching overall. Coach Roepke graduated from Strafford High School in Strafford, Missouri. After high school, he went on to play quarterback at Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri. He was an All-Conference QB selection and a three time Academic All-American at Evangel. He received his bachelor degree from Evangel with a major in Mathematics Education and minor in Leadership.

Coach Roepke is the Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks coach. In addition to coaching quarterbacks, he has also coached wide receivers and running backs. Coach Roepke and his wife Brianne, have four children. They have three daughters, Collins (8), Reese (6), Quinn (3), and one son, William (1).

Luke Snider
Varsity Football Coach

Coach Luke Snider, a 2010 Union High School graduate, is in his fifth year of teaching and coaching.  After playing on the 2008 and 2009 State Championship football teams, Luke continued his football career at the University of Tulsa, where was named the Special Teams Player of the Year at TU in both 2013 and 2014.  Luke comes from a distinguished coaching family, his father, Gary Snider, coached at Union from 1996-2005.  Luke’s grandfather, Lee Snider, was also a head football coach for many years.  Luke teaches PE at Peters Elementary, and will be working with the safeties, as well as the HS Track Team.  In June of 2014, Luke married Jordan, the love of his life, and together they attend Church on the Move.  Luke and Jordan are the proud parents of Daxton Paul Snider (3), and welcomed Steele Garyson Snider in February.

Ernie Trujillo
Varsity Football Coach

Coach Trujillo is entering his eighth with Union and his twentieth year teaching and coaching.  He is a graduate of Farmington High School in New Mexico.  After graduating high school, he pursued a degree in social studies education at Bethany College, KS and Pittsburg State University, KS.  Coach Trujillo started his coaching career at Chandler High School in Chandler, AZ, and has had stops at Apache Junction, AZ, Eastern Arizona College, and was the Defensive Coordinator/Assistant Head at Farmington High School in New Mexico.  Coach Trujillo is currently serving as the Assistant Head Coach and teaches history at the High School.  Coach Trujillo is married to Mila Trujillo who is an Assistant Principal at Union 6th/7th Center. They have 3 daughters BriAnna 25 (Union graduate 2013), Aaliyah 21 (Union Graduate 2017), and Alexis 19 (Union graduate 2018).

Isaiah Washington
Varsity Football Coach

Coach Washington is entering his 3rd season at Union serving as a Wide Receivers coach. He is a Tulsa native who graduated from Booker T Washington High School in 2013. After graduating high school he went on to attend The University of Central Oklahoma where he played football and earned a degree in Kinesiology. Coach Washington teaches Biology at the Union 9th grade center.

Jonathan Washington
Varsity Football Coach

2019 is Jonathan Washington’s third year at Union High School.  He is a graduate of Guthrie High School where he was the captain of two state championships teams, National Honors Society, Boys State, and a leader of his FCA program. 

Washington continued playing football at Northwestern Oklahoma State University where he majored in secondary education, was the resident intern of his campus ministry, and president of his campus FCA.  After three years playing football at NWOSU, Washington coached there for one year before taking a teaching and coaching position in his home town of Guthrie.

While at Union Washington, will teach U.S. History and coach defense and special teams.

In the summer of 2017, Coach Washington married the love of his life the beautiful, wonderful and amazing Jessie Washington, who also teaches at Union and coaches Cross Country and Track.

Joey Witcher
Varsity Football Coach

Coach Witcher is returning to Union after a 10 year absence. Witcher was an assistant varsity coach for the Redskins from 2002-2005. Coach Witcher has been in education for 27 years. He is a graduate of Midwest City High School (’86) and Oklahoma State University (’91). Coach Witcher spent 5 years in Administration as an Assistant Principal and Athletic Director before returning to Union. His wife, Lisa, is the Senior Executive Director of Instructional Services for Union Public Schools. The Witcher’s have two children, Taylor and Wade. Both are Union graduates.

Scott Young
Varsity Football Coach

Coach Young is starting his 6th year at Union and his 17th year teaching and coaching.  He is a graduate of Weatherford High School in western Oklahoma.  After graduating high school, he pursued a degree in Education at Southwestern Oklahoma State University.  Coach Young started his coaching career at Ellison High School in Killeen, TX, and has had stops at Chisholm (Enid, OK), and Prague, OK.  Here at Union he coaches the tight ends, assists with the offensive line, and also teaches math at the 8th Grade Center.  Scott and his wife Allison have two daughters Raelee, 15, and Avery, 12.
